South Haven Wedding // Elise & Josh

Elise and Josh’s wedding day was the kind that reminds me exactly why I love documenting weddings. It was full of genuine emotion, thoughtful details, and a whole lot of joy—unfolding naturally from quiet morning moments to a packed dance floor at night.

The day began slowly and intentionally at South Haven Creations. Elise got ready surrounded by her closest people, the room filled with soft light, laughter, and that calm excitement that only exists on a wedding morning. Her dress hung nearby, waiting patiently, while final touches of hair and makeup brought everything together.

Elise’s wedding day wouldn’t have been complete without the energy, laughter, and pure joy she shares with her bridesmaids. The kind of friendships where inside jokes fly nonstop, happy tears turn into belly laughs within seconds, and every moment feels just a little brighter when they’re together. They hyped her up, kept her grounded, and celebrated every second right alongside her; the perfect mix of chaos and heart that only lifelong friends can bring. You could see it in the way they cheered for her, danced with her, and surrounded her with so much genuine love. Elise didn’t just stand beside her bridesmaids on her wedding day — she stood in the middle of friendships that have clearly been cheering her on for years.

Elise and Josh chose not to do a first look, saving the very first time they saw each other for the ceremony—and it made the moment incredibly powerful. As guests settled in and the music began, the anticipation was palpable. Josh’s reaction was immediate and emotional, a mix of awe and pure happiness as he saw her for the first time that day. It was one of those moments that didn’t need direction or distraction—just two people fully present, meeting each other in the most meaningful way.

Their ceremony was heartfelt and personal, filled with intentional words, shared laughter, and quiet tears. Josh’s dad was the officiant When they were pronounced married, the joy was unmistakable—a release of emotion that had been building all day. Josh carried Elise down the aisle!

The reception space came alive with warm light, carefully chosen details, and the sound of glasses clinking in celebration. Their entrance was completely them—a dual performance of Billy Joel’s “Piano Man” on harmonica. How epic is that?! Speeches were emotional, funny, and deeply personal—stories that reflected just how loved Elise and Josh are by everyone around them. Their first dance was effortless and joyful, setting the tone for a night filled with movement, music, and nonstop energy.

As the sun dipped into a golden hue, we stepped away for portraits. Elise and Josh took this time to simply be together—laughing, holding hands, soaking in the fact that they were officially married on the shore of Lake Michigan. Nothing felt rushed. The focus was on capturing connection rather than perfection, letting moments unfold naturally while occasionally stepping in to give direction. These quiet pauses in the day often create some of the most meaningful images.

As the night went on, the laughter grew louder, the hugs tighter, and the moments even more unforgettable. Once the dance floor opened, it stayed full all night long. Skipping the traditional cake route, E+J opted for an ice cream bar instead! The wedding day exactly how it began—surrounded by love, family, and being completely themselves.

Their wedding wasn’t about a strict timeline or perfect poses. It was about connection, presence, and celebrating something real. And it was an absolute honor to tell their story from start to finish.
